Final DNP Program Reflection
“Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome” (Ashe, n.d.). The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program has opened my mind and shown me a new way to view the healthcare system. This final stage of my journey has accumulated my past two years of hard work, obtaining my terminal degree in nursing.
As my journey from an advanced nurse practitioner to a DNP scholar comes to an end, I am in awe of all I have learned and accomplished at Emory University. I have changed in my professional career, as well as in my personal life. I better understand the impact that each healthcare profession has on medicine and what I can achieve as a nursing scholar in neonatology. The AACN Core Competencies have guided the focus of the program and led me in advancing my career. Each core competency has played a role in my growth as a nursing scholar and is outlined below.
